Chad Goes Deep

The older you get, the harder it can be to switch off. What helps you stay grounded when life starts feeling overwhelming?

I throw my phone across the room, grab my dog and a frisbee, and head to a field. Watching her get fired up reminds me that life is sick.

Have you ever had a piece of advice that completely changed the way you see the world?

I learned from Vedanta that you should do your work for the love of doing it, not for the outcome. Focus on your duty, let go of the results. That's probably the idea that's changed my life the most.

What is the least chill thing about you?

I stress about my hairline becoming too mature.

Your work often sits somewhere between sincerity and satire. Do you ever worry people misunderstand what you genuinely believe?

Sometimes.  But I'd rather people draw their own conclusions than explain every joke. If someone watches enough of my work, I think they'll figure out what I actually believe.

Everyone seems to be searching for purpose these days. Do you think we're putting too much pressure on ourselves to find meaning in everything?

For sure.  I think everyone’s getting stressed about not being stressed.  We all think if we work everyday for some future stoke we’ll find it at the end of the road.  But I think the secret is to just fall in love with what’s happening now.
